Software I use daily

Adobe Dreamweaver CS4

As good as it gets for web development.

Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended

As good as it gets for image manipulation/creation.

Media Monkey

Recently switched to MM from Helium 2 for mp3 database management. Much faster and features have caught up to Helium. Very extensible with add on scripts and skins.

Faststone Image Viewer

Freeware but about as fast as it gets for image browsing and display. Will also do batch image conversion and enhancement.

Firefox Web Browser

Open source and free, this is the browser to use to surf the web. IE is not only way behind in features, but it is also unstable and is the worst of all browsers at correctly displaying web pages. Do yourself, and web site designers a favor and switch. I've also been using Google Chrome quite a bit lately too, and would recommend if you want a very fast and simple web browser with great user interface, it does lock up from time to time though.

Thunderbird email Client

Again open source and free. If you are using Outlook all I can say is enjoy the crashes, and that mess of a user interface..

News Leacher

Nice usenet news download program. Accepts NZB files from the likes of web sites like Newzbin.com and will download all parts automatically, and decompress and assemble if you like. I use www.newzbin.com as an index site. What this site does is provide a searchable index of everything posted on binary usenet. For multipart posts they provide a single entry saving you much time finding and downloading all the individual parts yourself. They are currently not accepting any new memebers except through recommendation from existing members. I will recommend only people I know personally. I use giganews as my news server. They now have an amazing retention of 1 year for binary groups and completion rates approaching 100%.

My Notes Keeper

Regardless of the irritating name this is a capable and versatile notes program. You can have multiple notebooks which can be password protected. The user interface can be a bit problematic but overall very good program that I have running almost all the time.

Winrar

Winrar will compress and decompress almost all archive format out there

Daemon Tools

Virtual CD/DVD driver supports many image file formats.

Slysoft AnyDVD and CloneDVD

Allows easy copying of movie DVDs or ISOs. Defeats most copy protection schemes
